SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Yemen's Interior Ministry says its forces are on high alert over fears of possible terrorist attacks in the capital.
In a statement Monday, the ministry said authorities received tips of al-Qaida plots in which militants were to attack government agencies while disguised in military uniform. The ministry said it has given instructions to checkpoints to inspect identification cards of military personal.
The measures came after a nearly three-week government offensive in southern cities and towns where suspected al-Qaida militants have a strong presence.
