Equipment management
A wide range of equipment is used within the Blood Service
setting at every stage of the manufacturing process, varying
from Haemocues used to assess donor haemoglobin
levels to PRISMs used to perform screening for viral infectious
agents. Standalone and walk-in refrigeration and
freezing equipment is also used extensively to store blood,
blood components and materials. The potential for equipment
failure to affect donor, product and staff safety is
therefore considerable.
