He turned himself in to police on Monday morning and claimed that he had contacted a police officer he personally knew so what he did was not really hit-and-run.
Despite his excuse, the driver was charged with hit-and-run and reckless driving resulting in injury but was released immediately because living on Koh Samui, he was not considered a flight risk.
Miraculously, the Israeli tourist is still alive and recovering in the hospital on Koh Samui.
