In this section, a Multi-objective mixed integer non-linear programming model for the discussed problem is presented.
We solve the problem for a fixed number of growers, pack-houses and cool-stores. The cost per liter for the fuel is a fixed cost. The rent cost charged for hiring each truck is also a fixed cost. The number of fully loaded trucks required by the growers can be determined from the total harvest of each grower (that has to be sent to the pack-houses for grading and packaging) as well as the capacity of trucks. The number of trucks sent used between 3PL to growers and growers to pack-houses are nearly same as no operations like grading or classification takes place at the pack-house.
Similarly, the total number of fully loaded trucks required by the pack-houses can be determined from the total packaged boxes of kiwi fruits needed to be transported to the cool-stores. Here, the number of trucks will be lesser than those required for transportation between the growers and pack-houses as only Class I kiwi fruits are further transported for export after grading. The binary variables defining the allocation of pack-houses and cool-stores are obtained by the newly developed heuristics (PPO).
