Chayakorn,
Tofu has had loose stools and diarrhea since he was brought to us at the end of December. We assumed this was caused by stress from the change of atmosphere or sudden change in diet so we tried: grain-free diet, different kibble (dry & wet), anti-diarrhea meds, added rice to his food, and giving him lots of activities to keep him happy. Since the diarrhea was on and off and with his age we felt he needed to see a veterinarian.
Tofu saw a vet on Friday who evaluated him and gave him two sets of antibiotics and took a fecal sample. The vet informed us today that Tofu tested positive for a parasite called Giardia. This is caused by drinking from unsanitary water or eating other dogs feces. Tofu has been boarded separately from other dogs his entire stay unless he is out for playtime among other dogs being supervised by an attendant. His food and water bowels are cleaned and sanitized 2x a day after he has eaten.
This is a very minor condition that can be fixed with the antibiotics given by the veterinarian. Tofu is no longer aloud to be in group play being that he is not Neutered so he will re-main be boarded separately and going out for playtime with the Kennel Club Attendants.
His stool has already gotten better after being on the antibiotics for 2 days. Tofu loves the staff here and enjoys all the attention we give him.
Please note that the Pet Store you purchased Tofu never finished his series of Puppy Vaccinations. He only Received 2 of the series of DHPP and already need another. His DHPP vaccination expired on 01/15/2015.
Please let us know how you are proceeding with Tofu’s future arrangement’s? Will he be shipped to you in Thailand? Do you need us to find a home for Tofu? He is a wonderful Puppy who at this stage of his life he need lots of love and attention. He has a lot of energy and will need training. We can help you find good home for Tofu.
