Laos does not have any grand cultural monuments on the scale that a person might expect to see in Cambodia or Thailand, but the attractions available in Laos are special in their own way. The Pha That Luang temple in Vientiane is a beautiful golden temple that is constructed in the heart of the city. The temple is been around for an incredible 18 centuries, and throughout its existence it has sustained hundreds of wars, occupations, and invasions. Over time, individuals and rulers with extra money have endowed this temple with great wealth and beauty. The fact that there is nothing like Pha That Luang in the world is why the monument has become one of the most important national symbols in Laos. We enjoyed seeing this attraction, and would recommend it to any other travelers visiting the area.
