Around
80% of patients present with advanced disease
and most will die within one year of diagnosis
(Health and Social Care Information Centre
2012). Less than 10% of patients will live for
five years or more (CRUK 2013). Although it
is recognised that lung cancer diagnosis peaks
between the ages of 75 and 84, more people
under the age of 60 are being diagnosed with
the disease (CRUK 2013).
