Energy value was registered in Microsoft Excel
spreadsheets and calculated for each ingredient. In case
of undisclosed items such as legume soup, Brazilian
internet sources were searched for representative composition
(http://tudogostoso.uol.com.br/categorias/sopas).
Commercial foods were computed according to portion
size and manufacturer informations, specifically
Mucilon® Nestlé, Nidex® Nestlé, Nutren Active® Nestlé
and Sustagen®, Mead Johnson. For macro- and micronutrients
the software AVANUTRI PC was employed
(Avanutri & Nutrição Serviços e Informática Ltda Me
Três Rios/RJ). Results were complemented and confirmed
with the help of two Brazilian food composition
tables, namely TACO and Phillipi.
