Joanne Lee, a 26-year-old former Korean singer who was living and working in Los Angeles, died Tuesday after a car accident, Dispatch reported.
Legally named Lee Yeon-ji, Joanne was in a car accident on Nov. 26 and fought for her life for a week before passing away in a hospital.
A source at Joanne’s workplace, a Los Angeles company, confirmed her death and said she had been working in the accounting department.
Her brother, Lee Seung-hyun, former member of K-pop boy band Take, is known to have arrived in Los Angeles following news of the accident.
Joanne debuted in 2001 with “First Love” and had a string of hit songs including “A Sunny Day” and “Innocent.” Her attempt in 2012 to make a comeback to the Korean music industry through the television show “Superstar K” were unsuccessful.
