Bird nests and Ioorprints have been
preserved as trace fossils in many parts of
the world. This processmayalso '
occur with-the nesting ground r.:.:
burrows of-birds.such.as penguins,
and tree holes, such as those made
by woodpeckers. The nest shown
below is still complete with its
eggshells. It may have been raided
by a predator or suffered some
other sudden catastrophe just
