Implications for Practice
Why a practitioners’ guide?
The guiding philosophy of being a scholar-practitioner is critical to being a student at Fielding Graduate University and is aligned with how I work, which is to illustrate the academic thinking and research and then find practical ways to utilize the ideas. My dissertation is focused on the intersection of CSR and HR, and while I found that CSR does not impact attraction and retention on a significant level, my interview results illustrated drivers that do impact attraction and retention. As a practitioner, I wanted to develop a guide for HR professionals based on my research findings. Before I delve into the practitioners‘ guide, however, I need to outline the basis for my thinking of my practitioners‘ guide. In addition to the themes outlined in my research, I have basic filters that guide my thinking: importance of self-awareness and dialogue, and the rise of employee power in terms of the talent crisis. I will discuss these below.
