Research Design
Kirkpatrick's classic 4-level evaluation
research model—indeed, the first level
only, reaction—was used to assess and
determine the reaction-based satisfaction
level of students utilizing e-leaming as a
tool for instructional online training. This
research design is a reference evaluation
model. According to this model, any training,
whatsoever, traditional or e-leaming,
can be assessed at four progressive levels:
reaction, learning, transfer, and results. A
fifth level was added to the model by
Phillips in 1996, it is the return on investment
(ROI). Level one, reaction, is a
measure of the learners' reactions to the
training course (Kirkpatrick, 2006).
