There are five necessities that are generally referred to as the objectives of the Shari’ah. The list is
as follows arranged according to priority: - 1) religion; 2) life; 3) mind; 4) Progeny and 5) Property.
Among all, the protection of religion is the most important. If it is in conflict with other objective,
it will prevail. It is undeniable that marriage is important to protect an nasl (progeny). However,
the interfaith marriage would only expose threat to the religion which is clearly contrary to the
paramount objective of the Shari’ah. Thus, it shall be rejected.
