Nephrotoxicity was induced in mice of the second and third groups by
cadmium chloride at a dose of 1.2 mg Cd/kg/day, s.c., five times/week
for nine weeks (Morales et al., 2006). The second and third group
animals orally received the vehicle of telmisartan (1% aqueous
solution of Tween 80) or telmisartan at a dose of 1 mg/kg/day
(Tsunenari et al., 2007), respectively, for ten weeks starting one week
before cadmium administration. The mice of the fourth group
received telmisartan orally for ten weeks without induction of
cadmium nephrotoxicity.
