of cell nucleation; larger cells were in turn produced. The presence of LDPE in SiOC3 would increase the pore size
further because the size of LDPE seems to be larger than that of microbeads. Thus, the porosity of SiOC3, which was
higher than that of SiOC1 after pyrolysis, was attributed to the formation of larger cells in SiOC3, as well as to the addition
of LDPE. Thus, microbead size was a key factor in controlling the cell density and porosity in the final SiOC foams.
In other words, the addition of LDPE was not effective for activating nucleation, as compared to the addition of smaller
microbeads
