Fish introductions are only recognized at advanced stages,
or when the damages caused are great and irreversible (Vitule,
2009). Due to the problematics of non-native species introductions,
action should be taken to prevent or minimize their
effects, including studies of the invading species, minimizing
the probability of escapes, raising awareness through education
on the subject, the breeding of native species, as well as
cooperation between the production and the conservationist
sectors.
