both years (40%), consistent with data from Nandakumar et al.
(2001). These authors reported better protection with a combination
of several P. fluorescens strains in rice, achieving 29.2% average
protection by single strains and 45.1% with combinations. Therefore,
a combination of strains as biocontrol agents, utilising
multiple antifungal traits may prove to be advantageous by
ensuring that, at least one of the biocontrol mechanisms, will
function under the unpredictable ecological conditions (Pierson
and Weller, 1994; Duffy et al., 1996; Domenech et al., 2006).
