While Thailand is moving towards an aging society, more people are moving into the cities to find jobs. The ratio of labour still doing agriculture is decreasing. In the near future we might not have enough capacity to export our rice, or even to feed our own people. Nitsara's revealing talk suggests the only way for Thailand to survive is by using the science and technology to improve our efficiency. And to do so, we should start from having the right mindset about the importance of science and how we can use our role to support Thailand to create more technology of our own.
Nitsara Karoonuthaisiri is a biochemical researcher at The National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. A student with a dream who finally had her dream fulfilled, she is now back on duty in Thailand with a bigger dream to serve the country with science and technology.
