The results and analysis from the study have reflected a fairly similar comfort conditions to previous
researches. In other words, there is a consistency of thermal comfort pattern for people in hot and humid
regions. It has higher temperatures than the specification in the standards, although this study had been
carried out during a cool season.
Considering semantic interpretation of the enquiries, it is interesting to note that the immediate stage
of comfort is different from the expectation or the imaginary situation of preferred environments. By and
large, the preference of people in tropical climate tends to be “cool comfort”, which manifest oppositely to
that in temperate climate, “nice and warm”.
In vernacular environs like this study, local people have interfaced more with ever-changing natural
contexts. The variations of environmental factors have dynamically affected the alternative and adaptation of
personal parameters. It is a transition state that the immediate environment and the imaginary co-exists at
the same place. This situation can be seen as a linkage, bridging the gap between the standards and the
findings of comfort criteria.
