Two French kitesurfers (correction: paragliders) were seriously injured when a gustof wind blew them onto the roof of a Jomtien Beach hotel in Chon Buri province Wednesday afternoon.
French nationals Narayan Keita, 28 and 14-year-old Tatyana Fadeyeya sufferedbroken bones and serious cuts when wind shot the paragliders 200 metres into the air before dragging them onto the roof of the Marina Building of the Ambassador City Jomtien Hotel in tambon Na Jomtien of Sattahip district, according to Thai mediareports.
Hotel staffers carried the two tourists from the rooftop to the 40th floor beforerescue workers provided first aid. The injured girl was rushed to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital's intensive care unit, while the male tourist was sent to the Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital's ICU for treatment.
Witnesses said the two tourists stayed at a nearby hotel on Jomtien beach and they later rented the paragliding equipment. They were about 200 metres offshore when a strong gust of wind lifted them high into the air
