II. SYNTHETIC APERTURE RADAR DATA The two types of SAR data used in this study are: airborne Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle Synthetic Aperture Radar (UAVSAR) L- band (1.25 GHz, 24 cm wavelength) data and satellite-based TerraSAR-X X-band (9.6 GHz, 3 cm wavelength) data. UAVSAR was developed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for acquiring repeat track SAR data [7]. TerraSAR-X is a German radar satellite which carries a high frequency X-band synthetic aperture radar and can be operated in different modes and polarizations [8]. The Spotlight, Stripmap and ScanSAR modes provide high resolution SAR data with single, dual and quad-polarizations.
