Homemade tomato juice is easy and quick to make. Sweet, vine-riped tomatoes are truly wonderful summer vegetables and most delicious when they are in season from July through September.

This tomato juice recipe is super healthy. Of course, fresh is much healthier than tomato juice, ketchup or puree from a can (yuk!). And, you may find that the taste is so much better than juice from a bottle.
It's a great basis for other juices (i.e. V 8 juice), soup and sauces. I use it as a basis for soup (raw or cooked) since it's much easier than using a vegetable strainer to sift out all the seeds and peel. (I eat the raw soup, my kids and husband the cooked one).
Below is my favorite homemade tomato juice recipe. Make sure you get the best quality and freshest tomatoes (such as heirloom variety). Also, choose organic, since research shows that the nutrients in organic - especially the lycopene - tomatoes is many times higher than in conventional grown tomatoes).
