Four different
antioxidant tests have been conducted: DPPH and FTC method
(for quantifying the antiradical activity), H2O2 and NO scavenging,
the latter being an example of a reactive nitrogen specie (RNS).
Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), a widely-used synthetic antioxidant,
is included as a reference compound. It is remarkable mentioning
that, whereas DPPH considers antiradical activity against
a commercially-available free radical, FTC measures such activity
by thermal-inducement of alkyl peroxide-type free radicals using
a lipid matrix as model (linoleic acid) and AAPH as the free radical
initiator.
