In our review of the literature, focused on the onset of action of AAPs in the treatment of schizophrenia, we narrowed the list of studies to those that directly compared at least two AAPs.22 In total, we found twelve relevant studies for adult and adolescent schizophrenia and the results were surprisingly inconsistent. One half of the studies reported onset of action equivalency in AAPs, while the other half reported a faster onset of action for risperidone versus clozapine, olanzapine, and quetiapine.
