I'm guessing this smells quite different depending on the time of year it is worn and the person wearing it. I'm using it for the first time on a warm summer's day. I like it a lot already.
The opening is loud, very sweet and, of course, spicy. Some people might find this overpowering. Not me. I like all things sweet and spicy: from warm and fragrant cinnamon swirls to sticky baklava via the most sugary of Indian hand made sweets. The main spice note is cinnamon which is also fine by me.
Once the “bomb” phase has run its course things settle down. The volume is turned from high to medium and the various parts mix and blend. From this point on it smells like a sweet and woody pipe tobacco.
This fragrance did that thing that scents can easily do. It conjured a snippet from the past. I was taken back to childhood days and drawing with coloured pencils. The sweet and waxy lead rubbing off in thick lines on the paper. The smell of fresh wood shavings from the pencil sharpener.
I would perhaps never have tried Spicebomb if I hadn't been sent a free sample. I had formed the prejudiced opinion that it would be a loud and crude fragrance. Instead, once it has dried down I find it to be a beautiful, sweet and almost delicate fragrance. I would recommend trying first before making a purchase especially if you don't have a sweet tooth.
