Justin was a normal and generally healthy baby, but he had gone through a continual cycle of ear infections for 6 months. Justin's five-year-old sister, Emily, had never experienced this common childhood problem and Justin's parents were confused. They had hoped that Justin would respond to antibiotic treatment, but shortly after the course was finished, another infection began. Justin was not a happy kid.
Friends suggested that they visit a chiropractor, as their own daughter had a similar problem and had good results with chiropractic.
Justin's examination and spinal assessment revealed an otherwise healthy boy with cervical and thoracic subluxations. His immune system was compromised, and the chiropractor reasoned that while the subluxations were minor, they could be contributing to the repeated ear infections.
After a few rounds of treatment that included adjustments and special attention to his diet, Justin stopped having ear infections. His parents continued to bring him in for appointments, as he appeared to benefit from regular treatment.
