Different Types of stars
- Main sequence - A star is said to be born once nuclear fusion commences in its core
- At this point it is, regardless of mass, condiderd a main sequence star
- This in where the majority of a star's life is lived
- Our sun is currently a main sequence star
- Red Giant star - Once a star has used up all of its hydrogen fuel in its core it transitions off the main sequence and becomes a red giant
- white Dwarf - The plase after Red Giant in less massive stars where is no supernova explosion Fusion no longer takes place
- Neutron stars - When a massive star reaches the end of its lift its undergoes a supernova explosion, learing behind its incredibly dense core
- A bowl full of neutron star material would have about the same mess as our Moon
Hertzsprung - Russel Diagram
- The HR Diagram shows the lumnosity (brightness) tem-perature, spectral class and color of stars
- The energy and color of light depends on its
