According to the previous report (Kiransree et al., 2000),
S. cerevisiae isolated from the soil in a hot region can produce up to 6.3% (w/v) ethanol in a 15% glucose medium at
40℃ after 48 h. In another report, a thermotolerant strain of S.
diastaticus was found to produce 6.4% ethanol within 24 h at
40℃ (D’Amore et al., 1989).
