Every year, on the last Wednesday of August, Bunol (Valencia, Spain) celebrates the famous La Tomatina festival where people from various regions gather to have the best time of their lives.
With the origin of the event being a mystery, the tomato fight has been Bunol’s tradition since 1944 (or 1945). The festival is in honor of the Luis Bertran and the Mare de Deu dels Desemparats. They are the town’s patron saints.
