(MENAFN) The sturdy performance of Qatari economy continued in 2014, mainly driven by a robust non-hydrocarbon sector, which is forecast to contribute in 68.5 percent of GDP by 2017, according to a QNB report, the Peninsula reported.
In 2014, Qatar's economy recorded a growth of about 6.2 percent, according to the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS); a remarkable result considering the 50 percent decline in oil prices in the second half of the year.
Sustaining its double-digit growth, the non-hydrocarbon sector played the most vital role in the economic up-rise. "We expect the diversification drive to continue and for the non-hydrocarbon sector to increase its share of GDP to 68.5 percent in 2017." The report said.
