It was somewhat problematic to measure satisfaction using scales indicating
level of agreement, rather than adopting the degree of satisfaction
itself. This type of measurement presented potential validity problem in
the instrumentation process. Future research design of similar studies
would want to avoid this problem. In addition, the multiple regression
model showed low predictive power (R2 = 0.1159). This was due primarily
to certain problems with the original research design (e.g., not
testing the survey instrument in advance). A more thorough plan would
help researchers reduce the incidence.
Studying Chinese tourists to Yunnan is important, given the unique
nature of travel and tourism in the province. Yet foreign tourists are
equally important for the tourism development of Yunnan as a travel destination.
Focusing only on Chinese tourists was a major limitation of
our study. Future study would be implemented to examine the travel
experience and satisfaction of foreign tourists to this particular region.
Comparisons could also be made between these two markets for the

Downloaded by development of a more thorough tourism policy. Another limitation of
the study was that the sample consisted of only tourists from package
tours. What about those independent travelers to Yunnan? Their travel
experience and level of satisfaction might be significantly different from
that of the group tourists. Future investigations would be conducted in
this aspect.
