The present thesis had been carried out in the context of an internship under the auspices of
GTZ in Bangkok starting in February 2007. The project had been backed up by a team of
Mahidol University, which at this time carried out a project on the same subject. The study
gives an overview over the composition and disposal routes of construction and demolition
waste in Bangkok. Potential impacts on the environment, and on the health of the labourers
were identified. The results are accentuated by means of two case studies. In order to
complete the picture, the subject of material handling and practices at recycling plants and
stations is also touched.
