The high sampling resolution adopted in our study indicates
that the zooplankton of Ghar El Melh Lagoon may represent an
intermediary between marine and freshwater influence.
Zooplankton was mainly constituted by marine groups with five
major groups: copepods, ciliates, rotifers, bivalve larvae and gastropod
veligers in addition to other meroplanctonic marine representatives
such as polychaete and barnacle larvae. Despite this,
there was no significant zooplankton variation according to stations
(RDA); due to confinement we noted zooplankton peaks at
those stations influenced respectively by a supply of freshwater
from the El Ayoune River and through a permanent connection
with the open sea allowing continuous exchange of water
