Chest physiotherapy was performed using the EFI method. The technique consists of a synchronized thoracic–abdominal movement generated by the hands of the physiotherapist at the beginning of expiration. One hand is placed on the thorax and the other on the abdomen for application of an abdominal counter-weight (Fig. 1). The maneuver begins at the end of the inspiratory plateau time and is pursued until the end of expiration, up to the infant’s wall and lung resistance limits.
