Copper is an essential mineral required for proper bone growth and development as well as enzyme function. Copper addition to poultry diets has become very common practice because of its growth promoting activity at prophylactic levels (>250 mg/kg of diet) after the use of antibiotics as a feed additive was prohibited in many countries. The objective this seminar was to know the effect of copper supplemented broiler chicks and laying hens diet on bone mineralization and P retention in broiler chicks, digesta pH, Cu, Ca, and Zn solubility and soluble complex size in the small intestine, eggshell quality, performance, egg yolk cholesterol and eggshell characteristics.
