In assuring
a sustainable balance between the silvicultural practice and
the natural ecosystem, integration with all the stakeholders should be taken into consideration in terms of managing, monitoring and
legal enforcement aspects since the Matang Mangrove Forest is a
provider in many aspects including socio-economic, as well as the
values generated from the mangrove ecosystem itself. Changes in
the land use policy of the Matang Mangrove Forest will be beneficial
to the Forestry Department in sustaining the yield of timber
production despite the fact that it might have a negative impact on
the local communities. Therefore, a holistic approach in changing
the land use policy needs to be implemented both at the state and
federal levels to ensure a winewin situation is achievable among all
the stakeholders since a major change in land use policy will
definitely have a huge impact on the socio-economic livelihood of
the local residents.
