The results of this study showed that chagalapoli (A. compressa K.)
fruits are a rich source of anthocyanins, with a complex profile based
on malvidin, delphinidin and petunidin, and an unexplored source of
other polyphenols. Currently, chagalapoli fruits are underutilized; the
obtained results support that they could be exploited to obtain pigments
that might be used as food colorants as well as a promising source
of phenolic nutraceuticals
