As for those practices of the six P›ra-mit›s4 and of those other
similar duties, or the accumulation of a great deal of whole-some
deeds as numerous as the grains of sand of the Ganges5, be
aware that if we are, in all aspects, perfect as revealed by the
basic truth, i.e. we already are the single Citta or we are as one
to the Buddhas, then we have no need to try to add anything to
that perfect thing by way of practis-ing those duties which are
meaningless, haven’t we? When we have a chance to do the
duty, do it; and when the chance passes by, just stay calm.
