for building enterprise-class Web applications. Historically, Oracle Forms users have had to either upgrade their application to the newest Forms release, or rewrite it using a newer technology. With Oracle Application Development Framework v11 g and JDeveloper, Forms users have a viable path toward achieving a scalable, flexible, enterprise-ready application architecture. This chapter explains how to use ADF to rewrite or rearchitect an application—introducing such concepts as data models, application modules, task flows, View objects, and UI components, and then expanding on those concepts with additional Forms-to-ADF-specific mapping scenarios. A case study outlining an engagement that Oracle migration partner Vgo Software completed with a U.S. manufacturing and logistics company is also included. Lastly, the chapter discusses how to deploy an ADF application to the cloud, a task for which Oracle provides templates and development virtualization and Linux environments in which to experiment.
