During the 10 Australian Football League (AFL) playing season from 2001 to 2010, injuryes grouped as highest incidence, prevalence, and recurrence rate of all injury groups (25). Efforts to reduce the injury rates have focused on changes in the AFL’s rules of the game, examination of environmental factors such as the playing surface, and player preparation and training regimes. It would be useful to identify more of the risk factors for these common injuries to support the design of prevention strategies.
