The purification capabilities of the pothoses in
three growing conditions were examined. The purification
capability of the pothos growing in the potsoil,
for formaldehyde, toluene and xylene was the
highest. It also became obvious that the purification
capability for formaldehyde in the three chemicals
was high. The capability-order was as follows; pothos
growing in the pot-soil, pothos putting in the growing
water and pothos putting in the tap water. In the case
of the tap water, the capability to formaldehyde was
higher as temperature became lower. It did not
change largely in the case of the growing water and it
indicated maximum value at 21 1C in the case of the
pot-soil. The purification capability increased as the
light intensity increased in each growth-condition. It
was also cleared that the pothos in the pot-soil had
the highest capability in the examined light intensity
range.
