Environmental campaigns of recent years have often drilled home the message that plastic equals bad. While this is largely accepted, plastic production continues at an alarming rate, and only 9% of global plastic waste is actually recycled. Not only has this led to microplastics flooding our oceans, but the presence of the same tiny particles in the Earth’s atmosphere means that now every time it rains, it rains plastic.
