Preparation of the ethanol crude extract
One hundred gram of each sample was extracted with 95% ethanol (Analytical grade)
thrice, at room temperature by using maceration method for three days. The filtrates were pooled
and concentrated by rotary evaporator at 40 C. %yield of the extract was calculated using the
following equation:
%yield = (Wcrude extract/Wdried plant) x 100
where: W crude extract = weight of crude extract, Wdried plant = weight of dried plant material. The
obtained semisolid extracts were kept in a desiccators at 4 C until further used.
