physicalparameterssuchasthedensity,opticalenergybandgap,oscillatorstrength,refractiveindex,ion
concentration, Polaronradius,molarvolumeandinter-nucleardistancearedetermined.UV–vis–IR
spectra revealedsevenprominentbandscenteredat448,749,796,899,1085,1265and1679nmcor-
responding tothetransitionfromtheDy3þ ion's groundstate(6H15/2) totheexcitedstates(4I15/2,6F3/2,
6F5/2, 6H5/2, 6F9/2, 6H9/2 and 6H11/2). Theroomtemperaturephotoluminescence(PL)spectraoftheglass
series at350nmexcitationdisplayedtwopeakscenteredat481nmand573nm,whichareassignedto
the transitionsof(4F9/2-6H15/2) and(4F9/2-6H13/2), respectively.TheTLspectraofgamma-irradiated
samples aremeasured,whichshowedDy3þ content dependentsimpleglowpeakat190 °C. Dysprosium
ion isfoundtoplayanimportantroleintheTLandPLintensityenhancementofLBphosphor.
