Our Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality (STH) curriculum prepares students for a variety of management positions and supporting roles in the hospitality and tourism fields. Through coursework, hands-on team projects, experiential learning, and global experiences, STH graduates are made ready to pursue leadership opportunities in hotels, restaurants, conference and travel services, and tourist attractions. Beyond fulfilling the core program classes, students are required to document a minimum of 600 hours of industry work experience and are encouraged to study abroad on a short-term or semester-long basis.
Program development has been guided by internationally recognized champions of sustainable hospitality, responsible tourism, and sustainable development. Our curriculum reflects our mission to equip students with relevant knowledge and skills to participate and compete successfully in the 21st-century global society and economy, and supports the mission of the Bryan School of Business and Economics, which focuses on sustainability, ethics, innovation, and globalization. As hospitality and tourism professionals, graduates of our program will be positioned to achieve the triple bottom-line goals of economic viability (profit), social responsibility (people), and environmental protection (planet).
