The result of this study concurrent co-morbidity of anxiety and substance use. General anxiety was associated with higher prevalence of substance use even when sex, family structure and parent education levels were accounted for, but statistical significance use was lost when additional controlling for depression. In general, substance use was not associated with concurrent social phobia. Controlling for sex, family structure, parental educational and depression revealed a lower prevalence of frequent alcohol use among adolescents with social phobia.
