The Shangqing School was another Daoist movement. It was founded by a woman named Wei Huacun (251-334).
She was very pious, and so some Daoist sages that had attained immortality that they communicated 31 books of information about Daoist practices.
In this tradition, followers practiced Daoist meditation and physical exercises, including specialized breathing to maximize their accumulation of qi.
Alchemy (magically making objects containing a lot of qi) and preparing of magical potions for immortality was common among Daoists. But the Shangqing School simply practiced a kind of internal alchemy (instead of drinking potions) in the body through the exercises.
