A previous study conducted in sub-Saharan Africa suggested that PLWHA consuming 100 mL of yogurt supplemented with 107 CFU/g of the probiotic strains L rhamnosus GR-1 (Fiti) and L reuteri RC-14 positively and significantly affected immune status and reduced the occurrence of diarrhea, flatulence, and nausea when compared with PLWHA consuming 100 mL of conventional yogurt daily [18].
