According to Adler “individual psychology” did not mean “psychology of the individual.”
Rather, it meant “indivisible psychology,” a psychology of the person as a whole rather than a psychology of parts, such as id, ego, and superego.
Understanding the whole person is different than understanding different aspects of his life or personality.
Focus on understanding whole persons within their socially embedded contexts of family, culture, school, and work.
