Ten Bacillus strains from various origins were used in this study.
B. cereus CUETM 98/4 and CCL74, and Bacillus sp. CCL9 and CCL21
were isolated from food processing lines, B. cereus LM9 and CIP
5832 were isolated from the environment and B. cereus D6, D22 and
D23 were isolated from patients with diarrhoeal symptoms
following ingestion of contaminated foods. The avirulent strain
Bacillus anthracis 9131 (Etiennetoumelin et al., 1995), lacking both
pXO1 and pXO2 plasmids,
